Achieving more together

Two Bridges Academy

Two Bridges Academy

Enable Multi Academy Trust, the Department for Education, and ISG are working in partnership with South Gloucestershire Council to construct the new 112 place free school to support pupils aged 2 – 19 years old, with severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties, and for pupils with severe learning difficulties and autism.

It will be an ‘all through’ school providing places from nursery to 6th form, and sited next door to Marlwood School, which will be ideal for shared opportunities, inclusion and strengthening community. The school is expected to open in September 2024, with phased opening to children and young people, with approximately 90 specialist staff.

We are hugely grateful to Marlwood School and CSET for their support and ongoing flexibility as the construction process commences.  ISG Construction are building the Net Zero Carbon School, and sustainability is a key factor in the design, and some specialist facilities will allow disability group’s access to specialist sports facilities, indoor and outdoor, with purpose built changing facilities.

Our vision, “working together passionately to achieve the best outcomes for our SEND children and young people” will, we believe, be strengthened by our augmented capacity in welcoming Two Bridges to our Trust.

Some particular strengths of the new school:

  • To provide much needed purpose designed and built specialist provision
  • To provide extensive opportunities for Two Bridges Academy and Marlwood school to strengthen community links
  • To allow disability groups access to specialist provision, such as physiotherapy and hydrotherapy throughout of school time lettings.

The Trustees successfully recruited a Headteacher to lead the new school, and after a rigorous nationally advertised interview process, appointed Carrie Osmond, a former Headteacher of New Siblands Special School, to lead Two Bridges Academy. Carrie who started in January 2024 and is working towards preparing the school for opening.
