Governors at Two Bridges Academy

Volunteer Governors wanted

Two Bridges Academy is looking for Governors to be part of the Local Governing Body (LGB)

You may not have considered volunteering in special school education, but Governors at our other Trust schools say they are challenged and humbled every day by knowing they are helping some of the most vulnerable children in society.

The LGB will be focused on educational outcomes, standards of teaching and the development of our holistic curriculum and work closely with the Headteacher to achieve this.  Governors normally meet once a term plus monitoring visits to school two or three times a year.

Key areas where Governors will have involvement are:

  • Special Educational Needs
  • Child Welfare and safeguarding
  • Health and Safety
  • Education and outcomes for children
  • Systems of assessment and data analysis
  • Budget monitoring

There are no specific qualifications or requirements for the role - every governing board needs a balance and diversity of knowledge, skills and experience.  Anyone aged over 18 can be a governor, and you do not need to be a parent. There is no requirement for you to have an understanding of the education system, just the necessary skills, character and time to contribute. There is plenty of training available to help you learn about education.
