Enable Trust was awarded the privilege of opening and running Two Bridges after a competitive tender process with the LA and DFE back in 2018 when we formed our Trust. Our vision, “working together passionately to achieve the best outcomes for our SEND children and young people” will, we believe, be strengthened by our augmented capacity in welcoming Two Bridges to our Trust.
The new school will be a new and additional special school in South Glos that is much needed because at present there simply are not enough places to meet all children’s needs – children who need a special school place. Two Bridges will be all through special school for children with severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties, and for pupils with severe learning difficulties and autism. It will be sited next door to Marlwood School in Alveston, which will be ideal for shared opportunities, inclusion and strengthening community.
Here is a letter about the proposed construction of the school, including a website that has details about the design and answers to frequently asked questions. It is a Net Zero Carbon project, which may help with the issue of part of the proposed site being on greenbelt land.
We have been working with the LA, the DFE and the construction firm ISG on the design, supported by a great team from our schools who form the Two Bridges Steering Committee.
